In case the rash of superhero movies and sequels wasn't evidence enough that Hollywood is out of ideas... Lionsgate has confirmed plans to remake Dirty Dancing, the iconic film that launched the careers of Jennifer Grey and certified Patrick Swayze as a true, hip-swiveling hunk.
According to Variety, Kenny Ortega - who choreographed many of the original movie's dance numbers - will direct the new version and include such classics as "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," "Hungry Eyes" and "She's Like the Wind." "The opportunity to direct Dirty Dancing is like returning home for me," said Ortega, who helmed the High School Musical franchise and Michael Jackson's This Is It). "Growing up in the '60s on the dance floor helped define me as a person and as an artist."
